EMBRACING THE CHANGE OF SEASONS + 5 WAYS TO CONNECT TO THE ELEMENT OF EARTH
If you’re a sunshine lover like me, the change of season from summer into fall can feel quite challenging.
If I could, I’d stay in the warm summer energy with bare feet, sunshine, and lots of time outdoors—all year, actually.
Some part of me finds spending time by the fireplace, lighting candles, and curling up on the sofa to be quite cozy too. But if you ask me what I really want, summer and sunshine are totally my choice!
In the last couple of days here in Sweden, the air has definitely started to shift, and I can literally smell fall approaching. The evenings are getting darker sooner, leaves are starting to change color, and there’s an energetic shift in the air.
In Chinese Medicine, this season—late summer—is its own season, which makes sense. After the heat of summer and before the leaves start to fall, there’s this space of a less intense, a bit more inward-drawing and reflective energy.
Late summer’s connected to the element of EARTH, which also makes a lot of sense.
After the fiery summer energy, we transition into this nurturing and grounding energy, which is about slowing down, reflecting, harvesting, and abundance.
Now’s the time when many people return to their routines after summer holidays, so it’s not surprising that it can feel a bit challenging at first.
5 Ways to Connect to the EARTH Element
Literally get your hands into the soil! Whether it’s replanting your indoor plants, getting some new ones, or if you have a garden like I do, planting some new perennials for next year!
Give your body a reset with intermittent fasting. This is such a quick way to feel recalibrated! If you’re a woman reading this, make sure to check out Mindy Pelz, who talks about intermittent fasting for women (which is completely different from men!) so you only fast when appropriate in your menstrual cycle. Her book Fast Like a Girl is fabulous!
Carve out 8 extra minutes of your mornings and take my FREE Morning Meditation which will help you tune in, connect you to your breath and allow you to set a grounded energy and tone for your day.
Go for a silent walk in nature (if possible do it barefoot if not too cold). Take in the sounds, the smells and the colours of nature. By removing distractions like music and conversations you’ll automatically take in and notice more than you’d do otherwise.
Bring out your journal and reflect over these 2 questions:
In what areas of my life to I feel abundance?
What am I grateful for so far this year?
I hope you find ease in this transition and have a beautiful start of the fall, wherever in the world you are.
As always much love,
Lisa
