NEW YEARS JOURNALING RITUAL - REFLECTIONS

I don’t know about you but when New Years Eve come close I always feel like “NO, I can’t start the new year and make intentions for it before reflecting back over the year that was!”.

It’s like I need to finish this years chapter, before heading into the next.

What I like to do is get together with some of my closest friends or family members and take time to reflect and journal about the year that passed.

When finished we all share with each other what we’ve written down. To share it out loud’s of course not necessary to make it powerful exercise - but I highly recommend to do it.

It brings you closer to each other and it might also be that it gives you insights and ideas of more things you can write down.

Here are some of the questions I like to go over:

  1. What’s one word you’d say describes this past year for you?

  2. What are some things you’re grateful for that happened? If you like to go really deep go through month by month (using your iPhone Photogallery can help:)

  3. Who were the most important people for you during the year? Why?

  4. What were some challenges you faced and how did you make it through them?

  5. What’s something you learnt?

  6. What mistakes did you make and what did you learn from them?

  7. If you did set an intention last year at this point - did you stay with it/did it work?

  8. What’s something you don’t want to take with into the new year (F.ex. excuses that don’t serve you, negative self-talk or a bad habit).

I hope you enjoy this little journaling ritual as much as I do, and that after doing it you feel a sense of ease and “readiness” to jump into the new year!

If you want dive into journaling about setting the tone for the new year I have written another blogpost but just that!
